Mechanical Seals

Mechanical seal sourcing for pumps and rotating equipment.

Share the pump model, seal reference, shaft size, material combination, fluid and operating conditions when available. This helps identify the correct seal faster.

TECHNICAL RFQ GUIDE

A mechanical seal RFQ needs operating data, not only a diameter.

Mechanical seals are selected around the equipment geometry, seal arrangement, process fluid and duty conditions. MEKRANTA uses the technical details you provide to structure the enquiry and compare suitable sourcing routes without treating appearance alone as proof of compatibility.

Equipment and geometry

  • Pump or equipment manufacturer, model and serial number.
  • Seal code, drawing, shaft or sleeve diameter and chamber dimensions.
  • Single or dual arrangement, cartridge or component design and rotation when known.

Process conditions

Include the fluid, concentration where relevant, operating and maximum pressure, temperature, shaft speed, solids or abrasives, and any known flush plan. These values affect the seal faces, elastomers and metal components.

Materials and acceptance

When available, specify face materials such as carbon, silicon carbide or tungsten carbide, the elastomer, spring and metal grade. Any OEM or equivalent option remains subject to dimensional, material and operating-condition review before acceptance.

Mechanical seal sourcing questions

Can a mechanical seal be identified from a photo only?

A photo can help narrow the search, but reliable identification usually also requires the pump or equipment model, shaft size, seal code, dimensions and operating conditions.

Why are the fluid and temperature important for a seal RFQ?

The process fluid, temperature and pressure affect face, elastomer and metal compatibility. Missing operating data can lead to an unsuitable material combination.

Should I specify cartridge seal or component seal?

Yes, when known. Also provide the arrangement, rotation, shaft or sleeve diameter, chamber details and any drawing or existing seal reference.

Do you review shutdown-critical mechanical seal requests?

Yes. Mark the RFQ as Shutdown Critical and include complete technical data. Availability and achievable lead time remain subject to supplier confirmation.

Compatibility, materials, availability, origin and lead time are confirmed against the actual RFQ. Brand references do not imply manufacturer authorization unless stated in writing.
